Dear NCES School Community,
I’m very excited to come back for my second year as the principal at Newport City Elementary School. NCES has truly become my new home away from home.
This is my 26th year in education in a variety of roles, including school secretary, paraeducator, classroom teacher, educational consultant, and principal. Personally, my husband and I raised six children who are all in their 20s and 30s and provided care for 53 foster children. We are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren ranging in age from 9 years to 18 months. I have been happily consumed and overtaken by children my entire adult life. I look forward to another year of being immersed in the world of NCES children.
My goal has been to be a visible part of NCES. If you have been at our school at the very beginning of the school day, you have probably seen me outside greeting students and families as they come into our building. Another way to get to know children – without having them visit my office! – has been to be in every classroom every day. Although there are days that I haven’t quite made it to every classroom, on most days I am able to do this. Knowing every child’s name and getting to know them is very important to me.
Additionally, I try very hard to communicate with parents, families, and other stakeholders. If you have any questions or concerns, or have any ideas that you would like to share with me, please do not hesitate to reach out by phone or email: (802) 334-2455 x 4044 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
